The press is abuzz with the first photograph released of a beautiful 2008 Chevrolet Malibu interior. The vehicle itself is to be revealed to the public at the North American International Auto Show in January.
Auto writer Mark Phelan of the Detroit Free Press reported (November 22): "The first picture of the car’s interior reveals a far more upscale and inventive design than the current model’s straightforward passenger cabin. The interior features a dual-cowl dashboard reminiscent of Chevrolet’s classic Corvette Stingray and a two-tone interior with optional leather trim."
In fact, Phelan has it exactly correct! Whereas the general press has suggested that the Malibu has a "dual cockpit design theme" reminiscent of Corvettes since the late 1950′s, the appearance is most similar to the 1963 Stingray, which was described at the time as having a "twin cowl dash."
Since exterior photography has not yet been released, one cannot know for sure, but the expectation is that the exterior lines will not resemble the Stingray!
