GM announced on Wednesday that sales in December fell, as consumer demand slowed for the both cars and trucks. The Chevrolet Corvette showed a decline in sales versus December 2005.
What caused the fall? GM’s "Red Tag" event failed to be spectacular by any means and their "Out with the Old, In with the New" program wouldn’t extend the valuable dealer discounts to aged Corvette inventory, or Aveo inventory for that matter (not that they’re similar by any means).
Chevy has also lost their crown as America’s number one selling brand, losing the title to Ford that they just gained the year before.
GM needs to focus going into 2007 and continue the positive press and great vehicle releases we’ve seen recently. This year’s 2007 NAIAS will prove to be mission critical for the automaker. We’ll have full coverage here at Corvette Blog.
