Apparently, General Motors had plans in the making to build an aggressive mid-engine for the next-generation Corvette C7 before the automotive world came to a crushing halt… but, those were all RUMORS!
Right after the Corvette C6 was introduced, people began chit-chatting about what new feature would come equipped in the next-generation Corvette. Such speculation included a monster of a double-clutch transmission for a “mid-engined version of the Corvette” had been around since the mid 1960’s.
But according to Stracke, “There is no mid-engine in the plans.”
Stracke also addressed the rumors regarding a Saab engineering unveiling the idea of a wet-clutch, as well as the potential for a V6 engine in the C8. All FALSE!
He did mention, however, the potential for a hybrid engine in the upcoming sports cars… Interesting.
So, lessons learned, my friends. Don’t believe the rumors!
