You have probably already read about Corvette-inspired, supercharged Silverados, Tahoes, and Suburbans here before! Prolific freelance writer Larry Edsall updates us all today with his article on what Callaway Corvette enthusiasts are now doing to our Chevy Trucks. Long known for deriving serious power and performance enhancements from Corvette's already strong engines, Callaway has recently turned to supercharging the Silverado 1500, Silverado 2500, Avalanche, Tahoe, and Suburban, too.
The Callaway Performance Truck concept is turning heads. Both the interior and exterior get enhancements that are more subtle than those of a typical Corvette Grand Sport or Z06, but the wheels and badging are unique. Supercharging takes the 5.3L V8 to 450 horsepower, hence the Package Code SC450. The 6.0L engine now produces 490 hp (SC490). The 6.2L factory engine now produces 540 hp with Callaway's engineering (SC540).
And, as you consider getting one of these trucks to tow your Corvette to shows, or to blow the doors off F-150 and Ram wannabees on the street, remember that the warranty is fully supported by Chevrolet. Unlike the so-called upfitters, everything Callaway does to your vehicle is blessed by General Motors!
The base package, which includes the Roots-style TVS2300 Supercharger, intercooler, low restriction exhaust, and many other features, is just $15,995. Suspension, brake, and appearance packages will be rolled out separately this summer.
