Matick Chevy customer Jim drove his Crystal Red C7 Corvette on a fall color road trip to the Shenandoah National Park.
Since the national dealer rollout of 2014 C7 Stingrays began in late September, numerous media and blogs have reported about several Chevy dealers charging significantly more than the manufacturer's retail price for the new Corvette.
So we asked a metro Detroit Chevy dealer about its pricing strategy.
“Despite receiving some of the earliest C7 shipments from Chevrolet and having one of the biggest allocations in the nation, we will not charge more than the suggested retail price," says George Matick Chevrolet Dealer Karl Zimmermann.
“It’s not just a matter of us retaining our customers’ loyalty, our refusal to gouge reflects the loyalty we have to our customers. With our ability to deliver C7s nationally at a tremendous savings, we don’t imagine that smaller dealers with limited selection will be able to gouge their local customers for long,” he adds.
Only about 900 of the more than 3,100 Chevy dealers nationally qualified, based on previous sales, to receive 2014 allocations of C7 Corvettes.
“The dealers that are only getting a few C7s may be exploiting the limited opportunities they have. With one of the largest initial allocations of C7s in the U.S., Matick Chevy will continue to offer customers a large selection, along with knowledgeable and professional service, and in turn, earn more repeat and referral business,” says Matick General Sales Manager Paul Zimmermann.
The metro Detroit dealership received 29 Stingrays in the first wave of allocations. "In addition to those new C7s, GM notified us last week that for the second cycle of the 2014 model year we will receive an additional 39 coupes and 16 convertibles. That brings our preliminary Corvette Stingray deliveries to 85. That's an impressive allocation and we are thankful of the support from GM. We already have sold more than 13 Stingrays," says Dealer Karl Zimmermann.
Matick Chevy ranks in the top one percent of those 3,100+ Chevy dealers nationally. Year-to-date through October, Matick ranked 28th for new vehicle sales. It offers GM certified Corvette sales, service and collision repairs. Matick also is the exclusive dealer in Michigan of Callaway Cars' powerfully engineered Chevy vehicles, including C7s.
After purchasing this limited-production model Stingray Premiere Edition, the owner kept it on display in the Matick Chevy showroom for a few weeks so everyone could enjoy his gorgeous Laguna Blue Tintcoat C7 with a Brownstone suede interior.
