Corvette Weekly Ordering Constraints
As always, CorvetteBlog has the latest ordering constraint information on new 2012 Corvettes.
That is, we have that information if General Motors publishes it. Unfortunately, they have made no updates since February 9.
I would expect no changes from the last post. As we announced then, Carlisle Blue Metallic (Regular Production Option GLF) is no longer available.
Please note: the last date to order the Centennial Edition Package (RPO ZLC) will be March 1, so if you need ZLC, please act quickly.
Orders placed by today have a Target Production Week of March 19, meaning they will be built between then and Thursday, March 22.
Please give us an opportunity at George Matick Chevrolet to make you an offer you cannot refuse on your brand new Corvette Coupe or Convertible, Grand Sport, Z06, ZR1, or Callaway!
If you have any questions, or would simply appreciate aggressive, customized pricing for delivery at our dealership in Michigan, by courtesy delivery in any of the other 49 states, or even at the National Corvette Museum, please email us by leaving a comment below (which will be kept private), or Call Bill at 313-532-2571.

This week, there is a change, one we had predicted in our January 10 post. Carlisle Blue Metallic (Regular Production Option GLF) is no longer available. This one-year color was ordered on one of every twenty 2012 models built by Christmas break, but cannot be ordered any more.

Orders placed this week have a Target Production Week of March 12, meaning they will be built no later than Thursday, March 15.
Please give us an opportunity at George Matick Chevrolet to make you an offer you cannot refuse on your brand new Corvette Coupe or Convertible, Grand Sport, Z06, ZR1, or Callaway!

Busy Corvette Display at the Detroit Auto Show
We all know that the big excitement of the 2014 Corvette C7 is still some months away. Best we can tell, the cars will not hit dealerships until fall 2013, easily half a year from now. I recently posted on it here.
So the question is: what kind of interest do the new Corvettes from the two remaining years draw now? For example, would anyone stop by the Corvette display at a major auto show to see a Vette? Well, happily, yes!
I took a few photos, when visiting the North American International Auto Show (a.k.a. the Detroit Auto Show) last week, and, in fact, there was quite a bit of interest in the 2012 Corvette.
Additonal evidence is that the first ever 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible was sold at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona over the weekend, for an amazing $600,000! Photos of that event will be posted here tomorrow.
Without question, the last of the C6s have great appeal for many!

Breaking News About 2012 Corvette Options
Recent communication from Chevrolet details important information about this year's Corvette, information previously unannounced.
The model run for the current 2012 Model Year Corvette will end in May. The last opportunity for dealers to place orders for 2012 models will be in March, just two months from now.
Two options that have received great interest this year will end production before the rest of the 2012 Corvette model run. Carlisle Blue Metallic (Regular Production Option GLF) will be available for just a while longer, but not for the entire 2012 run. The Centennial Edition Package (RPO ZLC) will also not be available through the entire 2012 run. If you need either of these two options, please act quickly. These options will be gone before you know it!
I would be happy to assist you in finding an in-stock Corvette with one of these options, or, failing that, to order it for you. We can provide significant savings, and factory offers are strong right now. However, you must act quickly!

Chevy Announces New Incentives to Get More Corvettes on the Road!
If you have been waiting for Chevrolet to make it easier for you to purchase or lease a new 2011 or 2012 Corvette, your time has come! In December, $3000 in Customer Cash was offered on 2011 models, and $1500 in Dealer Cash on 2012 models. 0% Financing for up to 60 months (and 2.9% for 72 months) was offered as an alternative, in place of the Cash on the 2011’s. In addition, all who qualified for the GM Employee Discount were favored with an additional $2500 off. And in addition to that, there were a few programs to save you money if you got something in the mail.
For January and February (through Leap Year Day), all of the above is still true, but there’s more! Consider which of these programs can help you get the most off the price of your new Corvette:
GM Owner Loyalty Program – through 2/29/12
If you own or lease a 1999 Model Year or Newer Chevy, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, Pontiac, Hummer, or Oldsmobile, you qualify for an additional $1000 off on both 2011 and 2012 Corvettes! This offer is not compatible with other Private Offers, but is compatible with Customer Cash, Bonus Cash, APR, and Lease Programs. And you do not have to sell or trade that car.
GM Card Top-Off Programs – through 2/29/12
There are numerous programs available, depending on which GM Card you have, and how much in rewards you have already earned. Savings can range from $750-5000. Check on your card earnings when purchasing a Corvette directly with GM.
GM Competitive Lessee Conquest Program – through 2/29/12
$2000 is available to non-GM lessees toward the purchase/lease of a 2011 or 2012 Corvette. Although this program is not compatible with other Private Offer programs, it is compatible with Cash, APR, and Lease programs.
United Services Automobile Association Private Offer – through 1/2/13
$750 is offered to members of USAA on 2011 and 2012 Corvettes.
Exclusive George Matick Chevrolet Offers
Whichever programs and incentives help you with your Corvette purchase, please keep in mind that we at George Matick Chevrolet are always looking to find ways to make your purchase/lease experience here “Better in Every Way!” We want you completely satisfied!
We are determined to find every incentive and discount to which you are entitled, so that you will receive the very best service and price! Call me to price out a car for you, to check out our inventory, to locate a vehicle, or to ask any other questions you may have at 313-532-2571, or email me at bconnell@matickchevy.com.

Motor Trend Tests Show-Stoppers, Corvette Z06 Tops List
Competition was fierce when Motor Trend decided to test a slew of vehicles on how quickly they could come to a screeching halt after traveling at 60 mph. The team figured the cars that came to a complete stop in under 100 feet would make their list, hence the “Under 100 Club”.
The Chevrolet Corvette made the list 5 times! Though two cars in particular caught the attention of the team – the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Carbon Edition and the Porsche GT3 RS. When further examined, both of these cars share a few commonalities: sport-tuned suspensions, carbon-ceramic disc brakes, and super-sticky, barely-street-legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup race-compound tires.
Below is the list of the other vehicles that made Motor Trend’s list. Are they what you would expect?

Merry Christmas from CorvetteBlog
It has been a pleasure serving you via CorvetteBlog in 2011. Thanks for spending time with us.
We try to bring a variety of Corvette-themed information to you every year. We update ordering information ("constraints") from the factory every week (usually on Friday). We show you pictures of Corvettes we've seen at car shows and other events. We tell you about the new options, colors, and equipment.
And, of course, a big part of the fun is to bring you the latest from the C7 Rumor Department. We also report on the biggest Corvette events east of the Mississippi, including events at the National Corvette Museum, Corvettes at Carlisle, and the Corvette Funfest.
We love to write about the many great activities in Michigan, too. From America's Corvette Club's summer Corvettes America Show to Corvettes on Woodward to the Woodward Dream Cruise, and all the stops between. We visit Lingenfelder, the GM Heritage Center, Corvette suppliers in metro Detroit, and several of the local "Show and Shines." And this next year, we will be at the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix to cover Chevrolet's involvement.
In addition, from time to time, we present Corvettes in our dealership's inventory, and explain current incentive programs from Chevrolet. We are always looking to provide the best value for you in your new or used Corvette purchase!
We look forward to spending time with you in 2012, and once again, Merry Christmas to you all!

Centennial Package is Popular on the 2012 Corvette
If you want a black 2012 Corvette - whether Coupe, Convertible, Grand Sport, Z06, or ZR1 - your only way to get it is to add the optional Centennial Edition Package.
Black has been very popular on Corvette for quite some time (24% in 2010MY). Black remains popular this year, and even at the Callaway Corvette factory. The pictures demonstrate two versions of the Callaway Corvette with the Centennial Edition Package.
Notice that on one of the cars, you see the Carbon Fiber PowerBulge, and on the other the C16 Hood. The C16 Hood option is a little more expensive, but either way, these are beautiful vehicles.
For an extremely competitive quote on any Corvette with the Centennial Package (Callaways included), give us a call at 313-531-7100, or post a response below (where your reply will be kept confidential).

Chevy Recalls Corvettes for Rear Hatch
In a recent Detroit News story, "General Motors Company said Saturday it is recalling 6,006 new Chevrolet Corvette Coupes in North America, that might fail to meet a federal safety standard covering rear hinges. The issue was discovered in early September, and GM halted shipment of the vehicles for three days as it investigated.
"The recall covers 2011 and 2012 models — including 5,755 in the United States and 217 in Canada. GM said the issue could allow the rear hatch to separate from the vehicle in a crash.
"Dealers will replace both rear hatch hinges. GM notified dealers last month of its plan. The issue was discovered in testing for a future European regulation. GM is unaware of any crashes, injuries, or customer complaints related to the issue.
"Most of the models — about 4,000 — are 2011 vehicles. The hatch being replaced is from Milan Metal Systems LLC of Milan. Letters to customers will be mailed Oct. 14 with instructions on how to have their vehicle repaired."
As an update to the Detroit News story, dealers have not yet received the parts needed for the repairs.

2012 Corvette Has Two Additional Catalytic Converters
You are probably reading this on CorvetteBlog first. Have you looked at the underside of a brand new 2012 Corvette?
When Chris Chessnoe (of Callaway Cars) and I looked at the underside of the 2012 Corvettes sitting on the 18 wheeler parked at Corvette Funfest in Effingham, Illinois a week ago, we saw two new catalytic converters on each car. These were not present on the 2011 models.
A call to our savvy GM trainer, Rob Scott, confirmed that this was an official change for 2012. Each car now has four catalytic converters. The reason? The EPA required them.
So what about power? Any reduction? Not at all. Internal GM sources say that there is no change in horsepower and torque!

IntelliChoice, now in its 25th year, is known worldwide for providing automotive ownership cost and practical car purchasing expertise.
Each year the company announces vehicles from the new model year that demonstrate the highest potential for achieving outstanding value over time.
In determining these 2012 “Best Bets”, vehicle models are compared with current models and the basis for expected ownership costs. Costs include: depreciation, fuel, financing, insurance, repairs and maintenance.
The twenty vehicle models that made the list are then re-evaluated at the end of the year for the chance to win the “Best Overall Value of the Year” award in January.

Z06 Centennial Edition Epic Lap
Have a need for speed? This short video reveals an epic lap behind the wheel of Chevrolet’s Centennial Edition Corvette Z06 on Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
What does driver Randy Pobst have to say about its...
Handling –"Like Corvettes have for years, the steering does react quickly... With these tires, it's controlled… now it's got the grip for its capabilities. It's a whole 'nother animal. But, kinda soft, in all ways."
Transmission – "The car's geared really high. I barely needed fourth gear. I went ahead and used it a couple times 'cause I knew it was getting close and tickling it, and I didn't wanna tap the limiter."
Brakes – "It stopped really well, but the pedal had kinda long travel. I stepped deep down into it and it just kept braking harder, braking hard. Extremely capable car." Seating – "I had this conscious feeling of the seat being soft, just kind of squishing around in the seat."
Engine – "Fabulous engine. Broad torque curve and high RPM power, a pushrod miracle. The power curve is very useable, no surprises. Revs out, makes those good American noises."
Overall – "I'll tell you what, much easier car to drive on R-compound tires. I felt like the car was really fast. It was generating a lot of grip. It can handle the power. It kinda felt a little bit soft, which makes you feel a little bit...dull around the edges. There's less precision in the movements than other cars here."
See the full video after the jump.

Chevy Announces New Corvette Incentives
Effective today, and running through September 6, significant Dealer Cash flows to dealers, to help buyers purchase the new Corvette they desire.
Dealers receive $3000 on each remaining 2011 Corvette, which they can pass directly on to their customers. Or, for those who prefer financing rate discounts, rates as low as 1.9% are available for five year loans, and 2.9% for six year notes.
For the first time, incentives are also available on the 2012 Corvettes, which are beginning to trickle in to a handful of showrooms across the nation. While not as substantial as the 2011 incentives, those who ordered a 2012 should be pleased! The Dealer Cash is $1500 and the financing options are 3.9% for up to sixty months, and 4.9% on the six year term.
If you are looking to purchase a new 2011 or 2012 Corvette, feel free to give us a call at 888-875-0728, or comment below (where your inquiry will be kept private).

2012 Corvette Package Pricing Announced
Chevrolet made pricing available on the 2012 Corvette yesterday. As might be expected, prices are rising across the line, but, as we have constantly seen, equipment and refinement continue to improve, as well. There is no question that the 2012 Corvette is an even better car!
Comparing 2011 base model to 2012 base model, the increase in list prices varies from $575 to $1725, depending on whether you compare a base coupe or a ZR1.
Trim level package prices also increase in almost every instance, ranging form $900-1795 per unit. The exceptions are the ZR1, which does not change, and the 2LT Convertible and 2LT Grand Sport Convertible, where the package price decreases $1095.
In addition, the Destination Charge increases on every car, from $950 in 2011 to $975 in 2012.

Trim Details on 2012 Corvette Centennial Edition
While all 2012 Corvettes will certainly not be Centennial Edition models, features from this special model grabbed the attention of the hundreds gathered at the National Corvette Museum to see what Chevy has new for the coming model year.
The Corvette logo itself, which for one year will incorporate the number 100, is shown at the right. This logo will be seen on all 2012 Corvettes, and is not specific to the Centennial Edition.
Three features unique to the 2012 Corvette Centennial Edition are seen below: the Suede Gearshift Boot, the Red Stitching, and the Centennial Rims.

The first three 2012 Corvettes revealed at the museum on Friday had much in common. Each was in the new color, Carbon Flash Metallic. Each had the special Centennial Edition features, including Steering Wheel Hub Logo, Centennial Rims with Wheel Hub Logo, Suede Gearshift Boot, and Red Contrast Color Stitching.
Long after the reveal, the cars continued to be surrounded with adoring fans.

2012 Corvette Revealed at National Corvette Museum
The 2012 Corvette was revealed at the National Corvette Museum this past Friday. Hundreds of Corvette enthusiasts mobbed the three cars, great with anticipation to see them for the first time.
There was one each of the 2012 Grand Sport, Z06, and ZR1, and all were in the new (one year only) Carbon Flash Metallic. The traditional - and popular - color, Black, will return for 2013. We were told that telling the difference between the two Black colors is extremely difficult indoors. The contrast, though, is seen outdoors in the sunlight! In my opinion, Carbon Flash is slightly lighter and more lustrous than Black.
The presenters from General Motors were Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter, Product Manager Harlan Charles, Exterior Lead Designer Kirk Bennion, and Interior Lead Designer Chris Sass.
More photos of the reveal follow below.
