New Book: Corvette Masterpieces

Nothing scary from CorvetteBlog today; just a delightful book announcement.

Newly published Corvette Masterpieces — with its large, lavish photos — captures all the most fabulous 'Vettes ever made.  Author Jerry Heasley, lead photographer and feature writer for numerous Corvette magazines, shares his countless photo shoots of truly spectacular 'Vettes.  His unmatched access to these cars and his library of images makes this book different than any other Corvette title ever published.

The more than 500 images from Jerry's vast library include:

Photo shoots of both coveted '69 ZL1 'Vettes, the famed multi-million-dollar cars of lore and legend!

Celebrity cars belonging to: Johnny Carson, Burt Reynolds, Dinah Shore, John Cougar Mellencamp, Roy Orbison, Alan Jackson, George Strait, Dwight Yokum, Mario Andretti, A.J. Foyt and others.

The original Waldorf Astoria Corvette that debuted the new sports car in 1953.  It is ultra-valuable and famous.

1955 test mules that were used to prototype the V-8 engine that vaulted the 'Vette into supercar status.

Famous show cars such as the Mako Shark, CERV-1 and the movie car from "Corvette Summer".

Rare and valuable "styling" cars specially built for GM executives including Bunkie Knudsen and Harley Earl.

Spectacular specialty cars built by Callaway, Baldwin-Motion, Ligenfelter and others.

Legendary production 'Vettes like the '57 air-box "fuelies", the second-generation '63 "split-window" 'Vettes, the racing-inspired "big-tank" cars, the '68 "shark bodies" and the awesome new C6 'Vettes of today.

A fantastic book filled with fantastic 'Vettes and fantastic ideas for your own 'Vette!

Thanks for the mention of my new book. The photos and stories come from cars in the hobby. Real people own and have built or restored these Vettes. I get a little bored reading the factory story illustrated with factory images from GM.

The book is pretty big at 10 3/4 inches by 10 1/2 inches. It has 628 color images, and 80,000 words.

My e-mail is jerry@jerryheasley.com if you have any questions.

People in the hobby will recognize many of the owners and their cars, plus I have included some of the big shows, collections, and other things, like a tour of John Lingenfelter's shop in 2000. Chip Miller, my friend, is in there, too. Corvette people are great. I photographed many of the tuner cars of the 1999-2004 years. Many of these cars are super rare. I was lucky to photograph them new. Caravaggio, Hennessey, Lingenfelter, Mallett, Skunk Werkes, Specter Werkes, Callaway, Cavallo GT, MTI and others.

Krause printed 5,500 copies. The book seems to be selling pretty well in the first 2-3 weeks since it hit the warehouse. I'll be happy to autograph a copy for anyone. Get a hold of me at my e-mail address. I also have 20-30 medallions left that I put on the first 283 books.
