Corvette Light Up Coin - Are they Serious?
I was watching TV today when I came across a commercial for the Corvette Coin. I stopped in my tracks, not just because I contribute to the blog and love Corvettes, but because I thought - this must be a spoof. But oh no, this Corvette Coin is a reality. The coin is the first ever to actually light up, and features a 2008 Corvette Z06 in Yellow on the front. Now why you want a coin that lights up, I seriously don't know. There's a limit of 5 per customer, so keep that in mind. Granted, its an interesting talking piece, but it has no association with the US Mint.
If you want to shell out $19.95 for the coin (+$4.95 for shipping), then by all means, click on the link below. Otherwise, click on it to just see how crazy it really is. There's a flash commercial on their site, so you can be stopped in your tracks too.
(Side note: if anyone gets one of these, send us a review so we can hear what you think!)

Some guy is selling them on e-bay for $31.00 plus shipping.
I saw the commercial last night. Called to order one. Be warned it takes at least 25 mins on the phone. It's a recorded message and they offer you probably at least 10 things after you say how many coins you want. The one thing I will tell you is that it does not just come in Yellow. You can order a set of I believe 5 other colors, including the 50th. I believe that was 100 dollars plus shipping. Hope this helped anyone interested.
I just receive my z06 coin. It comes with all the authenticity paper work from GM, and I was happy with it until I saw "Made in China" on the side. What is the deal with everything being made in China? Can we not keep our American money in America, and have quality products made by Americans, or do we have to sell our souls to other countries to save a buck? This is "America's sports car" but its collectible coin is made in China!
I'm with you, Roger. This reminds me of years back when the marketing support company I worked for distributed "Buy American" lapel pins for Lee Iacooca's Chrysler Corporation. Each pin had a "Made in Japan" paper tag on it, and we were paid to remove the tags before the pins were shipped to the dealers! What are these people thinking?
