Hot New Corvette SS Rumors
The magazines and blogs are all over the Corvette SS (or Corvette Blue Devil or Corvette Z07) again. There are articles on CorvetteBlogger, AutoBlog, and AutoNewsGuide, all linked for you to check out. All of the articles appear to rely on a Popular Mechanics posting by Jim Dunne. In turn, Dunne seems to have gotten his information from a large Michigan Corvette dealership.
I can tell you that it wasn't our Corvette dealership, so I can't assure you of the authenticity of the remarks. In summary, though, there seem to be five lines of thought currently being emphasized:
1. Corvette SS will come with an automatic transmission only. They are saying that the engine is too strong for any of GM's manual transmissions. But, can this be true considering how well they stand up to Callaway modifications and mods from other companies?
2. The Corvette SS power-plant will feature a single supercharger positioned between the the two banks of cylinders.
3. Anticipated total production of the Corvette SS will be 3000, spread over two years.
4. The price of the Corvette SS will fall between $100,000 and $125,000.
5. It is unclear whether the Corvette Z06 will be produced during the the two year run of the Corvette SS. However, logic suggests that it will.
As an aside to one of the other bloggers in their story: if a "myth" is discovered to be true, it is no longer a "myth" but a "fact".
