The Corvette C6.R race cars will get some competition this weekend when Aston Martin fields a DB9 against our intrepid team in the next chapter of the American Le Mans Series. Aston Martin showed up for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in mid-June (which they won) and for the first race in the ALMS at Sebring, but otherwise has been invisible this summer.
The track in Elkhart Lake is a favorite of drivers because the four-mile course is carved into the rolling hills of Wisconsin's Kettle Moraine forest. It is said to be "a 14-turn test of horsepower, handling, and bravery". The one circuit in North America that every road racer relishes is Road America.
The four-hour Generac 500 at Road America, the eighth round of the 12-race ALMS series, will start at 4 p.m. CDT on Saturday, August 11. NBC Sports will televise the race tape-delayed at 2:30 p.m. EDT on Sunday, August 12.
