Well, Motor Trend was at it again. The gang teamed up with pro-racer Randy Pobst to put together a list of the hottest performance cars on the market. The winner was given the title: “Best Driver’s Car”.
The vehicles’ rankings were based off ALOT of material, 18 pages to be exact. To summarize, the collected data included a combination of speed, braking performance, acceleration data and pure subjective “in the seat” driver’s experience.
And here are the results:
- #10 Chevy Camaro SS
- #09 BMW 135i
- #08 Jaguar XFR
- #07 Nissan 370Z Nismo
- #06 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
- #05 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500
- #04 Cadillac CTS-V
- #03 Mazda MX-5 Miata
- #02 Audi R8
- #01 Porsche Cayman S
What are they thinking? Do YOU agree with this top 10? We would like to hear your opinion. Blog with us.

they can’t be serious? They are saying an MX-5 Miata and a Mustang outperform a ZR1 based on their criteria? Its no wonder I stopped reading MT. I would have expected the ZR1 in the top 3
Mazda Miata #3??? C’mon Motor Trend. Are you realling trying to tell me that a Miata is better than a Camaro or Z???
Not to mention the SS Trailblazer is a better vehicle than that Cayman S.
What are they thinking. How does a Mazda Miata end up on the same list as a ZR1. What are the standards that they are basing this off of?
