C7 Corvette speculation continues to run on. Recently, Keith Cornett summarized what we do know about the C7 Corvette, at this point.
First, we do know that it will arrive as a 2014 model, and that it should be available in the latter half of 2013. Second, GM VP of Global Design Ed Welburn has said that the new Corvette will have a split rear window, inspired by the iconic 1963 Corvette Sting Ray Coupe. Several of the speakers at late April’sC5/C6 Birthday Bash at the National Corvette Museum confirmed that expectation, too.
Fourth, we also know that one of the major design & engineering parameters is to shave weight from the car, to help increase fuel economy. Finally, we know that GM is developing a new generation of V8s which should be be ready by the time 2013 rolls around.
Everything else we’ve heard is just speculation, and we at CorvetteBlog do not think it will look like the red Corvette pictured here. Let’s all just keep our ears to the road.
