George Matick Chevrolet and D.J. Race Enterprise are revving up for this Saturday's (July 28) Waterford Hills Vintage Races in Clarkston, MI.
D.J. Race Enterprise, based in Ortonville, and our Matick Chevy announced a yearlong racing partnership last month. The Saturday race is one of several that will feature our dealership and D.J. Race Enterprise.
Race and corvette enthusiasts will see Corvette racing at its best with a special afternoon Showcase Race featuring racecar driver and Corvette connoisseur Danny Kellermeyer, owner of D.J. Race Enterprise.
Waterford Hills Road Racing (WHRRI) and the Concours d’Elegance of America present the race. (The Concours – an annual celebration of automotive history and heritage – is the following day, July 29, at the Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth.)
Attendees at the Waterford Hills event will see both the Showcase Race and the main attraction — the Vintage Races, with some of the most exciting racecars from the past racing and on display.
“As we’re moving into the 60th anniversary of the Corvette in 2013, this is a most exciting time for the Corvette and for racing,” says Karl Zimmermann, owner of Matick Chevy. “The Corvette is legendary.”
George Matick Chevrolet has been serving metro Detroit and beyond since 1967. Today, the dealership is ranked in the top one percent nationally of Chevy dealers for new-vehicle sales volume. Matick features Michigan’s largest indoor showroom, with room for more than 100 cars and trucks. Matick is also Michigan’s exclusive dealer for Callaway Corvettes, as well as Callaway Camaros and supercharged, powerfully engineered Chevy SportTrucks.
Kellermeyer captured the 2010 and 2011 Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Great Lakes STO National Championship, as well as the Waterford Hills Road Racing (WHRRI) 2010 and 2011 STO championships.
“These double championship years don’t come too often and to get two of them back to back is great,” says Kellermeyer. “This can only be done if you have quality racecars and quality in everything you do. That is why we are pleased to align ourselves with Matick Chevy, which defines quality in service, cars and more.”
Kellermeyer’s 2012 season thus far features all podium finishes, winning seven of
the first nine races and finishing second in the other two races.
In addition to the July 28 event in Clarkston, look for DJ Race Corvettes at SCCA national and regional events this racing season. The racecars also will be displayed at a variety of upcoming show events, including Aug. 11 at the Corvettes America Show at Alpine Valley in White Lake, and Aug. 18 at Back to the Bricks Cruise Weekend in Flint in the Corvette Reunion area.
DJ Race and Matick Chevy invite showgoers to stop by and say hello — and get
an up-close-and-personal look at some sharp-looking Corvettes in the paddock
