Bob & Marcia Bennett bask in Corvette glory.

1958 was a very good year, especially for Bob Bennett of Livonia. Bennett won top honors in the People’s Choice awards for his 1958 'Vette at the recent Corvettes America show, of which Matick Chevy is a sponsor.

Bennett, who purchased his red-and-white beauty 12 years ago, says he put some $50,000 into refurbishing the car.

“It’s my show-off car,” Bennett said, while balancing his hefty trophy in his hands. “I take that car to shows. I might go about 60 or 65 mph tops in it.”

Bennett also owns a 1977 T-Top black-on-black ‘Vette that he drives more often. As for his wife, Marcia, she doesn’t drive the ‘Vettes at all. “I like to ride in them,” she noted, beaming as her eyes took in the huge trophy (it barely fit in the car!). Thanks to their 54-year-old pride and joy, the Bennetts drove home with big smiles on their faces.
